Be a parent to an older, waiting child...
Foster Care Crisis in America
The American Foster Care System is in need of major changes.  Numerous children are suffering within this system that should be designed to help them!  Although many dedicated and hard-working social workers try their best to help the lives of these children, the system is bursting at the seams.  We all need to care about this, and take action to make the situation better.  If any one child can be helped, then our personal intervention will have been worthwhile!

The American foster-care system has over 550,000 children in it!!!  There has been many documented cases of children who have been severally abused within this system (see recent article in Time Magazine: Time Magazine Article).  While, nobody keeps an accurate count, the incidence of physical and sexual abuse in the USA foster care system is alarmingly higher than in the general population.

I urge you to find-out what you can do in your local area.

The National Adoption Center:
The children who are available are not the healthy infants that most people associate with adoption, but are
children who have special needs. Most are between 7 and 16 years old; some have physical, emotional or learning disabilities; many are brothers and
sisters who need homes together. More than half are African American.
