Dear Friends of AdoptedLife.Org

In 1995, while on a visit to my friend Jenny’s house in the UK, the concept for AdoptedLife was born. Over the last 10 years AdoptedLife has been the Internet’s most highly ranked site for finding adoption related cartoons (See Image 1)---promoting understanding of adoption and motivating adopted and once-fostered adults to make their unique contribution to the world. Last week we averaged 1,200 hits a day from 30 countries (see List 2 below) and we received referrals from over 60 unsolicited web domains (see List 3 below).

Over the years, AdoptedLife has been involved with foster parent associations and other agencies, trying to do some good in the world, to show young people that someone cares. For example, we wanted to do what we could (See Letter 4) to show our support for the Alamaba Foster Parents Association (AFPA), who are struggling so hard to make a better life for kids. They are on the front line of a serious love, for children and teens, who sometimes don’t feel so good. All AFPA and AdoptedLife requests of you is to look into this, to know there are children out there that are not asking for your help, but wouldn’t refuse it if you lent a hand.

We also got quite involved with FAIR, a foster and adopted parents association, in California. I was personally awe inspired by Harvey Ng, and his wife and all their efforts to simply make life better for some young people. Heartfelt people like the Ng’s are giving their life’s service to young people who happened to be torn from their blood parents. Who can say what Mr. Ng got in return for his efforts (?), there are plenty of other things he could have been doing with his time.

And many others including just this year, my contribution to Suzanne Slade’s new book on adoption written for teens and placed in libraries (See Reference 5).

Now, a couple days ago, AdoptedLife’s email addresses were attacked by a spammer that shut the website down. Yes, we are back up again, but it caused time for re-evaluation.

Twelve years of a non-profit, means I have given to this topic, but it costs money (for the staff of AdoptedLife), time, and energy, and worry. I want to thank those who have worked on AdoptedLife: Wes Nickerson, Jenny Spinner, Christina Brandes, Christopher DeFillippi, and hundreds of adoptees and birth parents who made one or two contributions to AdoptedLife.

Over the last couple years, I have embarked on a new great project that I love: to do something about war over energy resources using my scientific background. As some of you know, I am a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, and AdoptedLife was a passion that grew out of the time period in 1993, when I found both my birth parents.
